What’s Ahead in 2024

With your support we can continue to build homes and give more Durham families the opportunity for homeownership; something they’ve always dreamed of!

In 2023, following the completion of the Building Blocks neighborhood, we fanned back out into the community, building around the city. Construction is nearing completion on seven homes on North Plum Street, responsibly creating more density in east Durham.

The Home Builders Blitz returned, with two Habitat homes built in just one week. Two more homes were completed on Scout Drive in Durham’s dynamic southside. And construction began on four more homes at locations in central and east Durham.

This year, we are setting an ambitious plan to build even more homes, knowing there is still a great need for affordable homeownership opportunities within our community.

• Continuing our longstanding partnership with Durham Housing Authority, we’ll begin construction on eight new homes on former DHA land and we plan to fully remodel three existing homes to sell affordably to Habitat homebuyers.
• The City of Durham, another longtime partner, has donated land for three Habitat homes that we plan to build this year.
• We’ll also kick off construction on ten more affordable homes in Durham’s historically significant Hayti community, made possible thanks to an innovative partnership between Durham Habitat, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, and you!
• And building will soon begin on at least five more Durham Habitat homes, with four slated for the Southside neighborhood and one more in the northeast corner of the city.

All of this is possible because you are committed to our mission and because you support affordable homeownership in our shared community. We are excited for all we will achieve together this year!
