Volunteer Appreciation Week

April 21, 2024

This week is national Volunteer Appreciation Week! Volunteers play a huge role in the success of our organization, and we want to recognize their accomplishments and hard work.

Last year, more than 2,370 volunteers contributed 15,300 hours in support of our mission.  Volunteer labor is one of the primary ways we are able to keep our homes affordable to buyers. Not only do a variety of individuals and organizations volunteer on our projects each year; the families in our homeownership program also work directly on their own homes during the build process.

HFHD relies on volunteers for almost every step of the home building process, whether that be framing, painting, landscaping, or any other job along the way. Some volunteers come in with previous construction experience, while others may have never swung a hammer! Regardless of background, HFHD is proud to host volunteers of all ages and abilities.

We would like to thank all our volunteers for their continued dedication and support.  Volunteers help us with our mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.  Thank you for helping us build a stronger Durham through affordable homeownership!
