Durham Habitat received a $53,5000 grant to help repair five homes in Durham. With the support of this grant, Durham Habitat will provide critical home repairs to five homeowners. These repairs will include three full roof replacements, mold remediation, plumbing repairs and upgrades, and a foundation stabilization.
Durham Habitat’s Critical Repairs program addresses health and safety concerns for Durham homeowners who otherwise would not be able to afford the necessary work. Each of these homeowners had been on the program wait list. The grant from Lowe’s funded this work and helped made it possible for these families to receive the assistance they needed to repair their homes.
The funding from Lowe’s is part of a two-year, $6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International to support home repair and preservation efforts in owner-occupied homes. Through this partnership, more than 75 local Habitat affiliates will complete more than 480 projects this year to address critical health and safety issues in homes across the U.S. Since 2003, Lowe’s and Habitat have worked together to help more than 18,000 people build or improve a place to call home.
