Corporate Groups

Looking for a meaningful way to engage your team outside the office? Volunteering with Durham Habitat offers a hands-on experience that builds teamwork, strengthens company culture, and makes a lasting impact in our community.

Sponsored corporate groups include 10–12 volunteers per shift or the option to participate in one full shift. We welcome corporate groups to join us on the construction site through sponsored build days, where your team can help build affordable housing. Non-Sponsor Groups

This opportunity is perfect for smaller groups looking to make a meaningful impact with their time. Whether you’re a team of coworkers, friends, students, or members of a community organization, volunteering together is a great way to give back and bond as a group.

Non-sponsor volunteer groups can accommodate up to 6–8 volunteers per shift. While these groups don’t contribute financially, your time and energy on the build site play a vital role in helping us advance our mission of affordable housing. Join us onsite today by filling out our Group Request.

Playhouse Build

Durham Habitat Playhouse Build days are a fun, hands-on team-building experience that make a real impact. Each build day requires a $2,500 donation per team, which helps offset the cost of materials for the playhouse and supports the construction of actual Habitat homes.

Teams of 12–15 volunteers spend the day building a fully finished playhouse in a 6–7 hour session, typically from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. All build days take place Tuesday through Thursday inside the climate-controlled TROSA Warehouse on East Main Street in Durham.

With guidance from experienced Durham Habitat volunteers, your team will build, paint, and decorate a 4’x5’ playhouse complete with a floor, windows, a hinged door, and a shingled roof. You may be using power tools, painting supplies, and taking part in light cleanup throughout the day. A lunch break is included, and the day wraps up around 2:30–3:00 PM.

By the end of the day, your group will have created a fully assembled and decorated playhouse ready for delivery to a chosen charity or individual. Schedule a Playhouse Build.

Youth Build

The Youth Build program allows community members aged 10 to 15 to volunteer with Durham Habitat and serve in the community. Participants in Youth Build events work alongside Habitat staff and crew lead volunteers to create and decorate gifts for new homebuyers. This program allows young volunteers to learn more about Habitat’s goal and initiatives while also making their own contribution.

School groups, faith groups, and community organizations are invited to schedule their own Youth Build days. Youth Build events with open registration are held periodically throughout the year.

Lego Build

Our Lego Build is a youth-focused educational program designed to help young members of the Durham community learn about Habitat for Humanity and the importance of affordable homeownership opportunities. During these events, youths and adults work together to make their own vision of a safe and affordable home a reality with LEGO Bricks.

School groups, faith groups, and community organizations are invited to schedule their own Lego Build event.
