HR Generalist
Habitat for Humanity of Durham is seeking an HR Generalist to be responsible for the daily management of the human resource activities of the organization.
Position Summary
The HR Generalist will act as a liaison between employee and management. And will offer guidance on recruitment, terminations, performance management, employee relations and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and senior management. This position reports to the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics and guide resolution of any issues that arise
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
- Manage recruiting and staffing logistics
- Onboard all new employees
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration
- Supervise open enrollment process
- Accurately track and maintain PTO
- Manage 401K plan. Provide necessary compliance data to third party administrator
- Complete and prepare all regulatory questionnaires, reports and surveys related to HR
- Provide advice and service to management on employee relations and performance management
- Prepare ad-hoc HR management reports
- Effectively manage employee exit formalities (off-boarding)
- Implement and administer employee policies
- Maintain/update Employee Handbook as needed
- Offer proactive policy development. Identify ways to improve policies and procedures
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor degree in HR Management or related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in HR
- Expertise in HR policies and procedures
- Strong knowledge of benefits management
- Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations
- Sound judgment and problem solving skills
- High level of professionalism and discretion
- Familiarity with MS Office suite
- Excellent communication skills and team builder
- Flexibility on work location and hours
