Fundraising
Participating Youth United groups are asked to fundraise throughout the year to help reach the $50,000 home sponsorship amount.  Individual groups develop and implement fundraisers that work well for their group.  In addition, the Youth United leadership team organizes fundraisers that are open to all groups.  United we can reach the $50,000 goal.

Cans for Habitat - collect aluminum cans from friends, family and others and recycle them for cash! Save the environment and raise money at the same time!
• Get Cans for Habitat materials from Durham Habitat
• Collect Empty aluminum cans ONLY in bags. No plastic or glass.
• Bring cans to J& D Recyclers, 2645 Cheek Road, 219-4314
     • Hours – Mon.-Fri.: 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m. and Sat: 8:30a.m. – 12:30p.m.
     • Current price per pound: $0.45 – You must say you are with Habitat for Humanity to get this rate!
• Take cash and return it to Habitat!

California Pizza Kitchen – both delicious and philanthropic, California Pizza Kitchen has been Youth United’s food sponsor for 4 years. Ask family and friends to eat at CPK on specific dates and 20% of the bill will be donated to Youth United.  Check the Meetings and Activities calendar for CPK fundraising dates.
• Bring this flyer to CPK at Southpoint mall during our next CPK event
• Give it to your server and 20% of your bill will be donated to Youth United
• Make sure to fill in your school or organization so you receive credit!

Sign a 2x4 - become a permanent part of Habitat for Humanity by leaving your mark in a Habitat home. Signed 2x4’s are used as part of the frame of the Youth United house.
• Get a 2x4 from Durham Habitat
• Ask people to make a donation. Let them sign or decorate the 2x4 if they do.
• Return the money you collect to Habitat!

Birdhouses - designed and created by Southern High School CADA students, birdhouses are a great way for younger youth to get involved with building. Kits come complete with pre-cut wood, hardware, and instructions. You provide the hammer and the fun!
• Get birdhouse kits from Durham Habitat
• Sell the kits or build the kits and decorate them.
• Sell the finished birdhouses on your own or contact Deirdre to schedule a time to sell them in the ReStore.
• Return the money you make to Habitat!
