Age requirements

General construction volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to climb above 6 feet and operate power tools.

Want to bring a group to volunteer? Feel free to check availability using our online scheduling tool (linked above). We can usually accommodate groups of up to 10 volunteers per site per shift. To accomodate larger groups, we will probably need to split your group over multiple shifts or multiple sites.

Complete this form or contact Anna if you'd like to reserve space for your group of 5 or more volunteers.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, deconstruction, crawlspace sealing, wall framing, roofing, siding, interior and exterior trim, painting, cleaning, and landscaping.

All tools and supplies will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own hand tools if you want to.

No tools, skills or experience is necessary. You can volunteer as an individual or bring a group out.

We host construction volunteer opportunities on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays year-round.

Two construction shifts are available:

8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

On-street parking is available at most locations. We ask that you are mindful of not blocking driveways or mailboxes to respect our neighbors.

We make every effort to keep shifts open. We will continue to build outdoors in the case of light rain. In the case of heavy rain or other inclement weather, we may need to move shift locations or cancel your volunteer shift. The Volunteer Manager will make every effort to reach out to you in advance via email if you are scheduled for an affected shift.

If changes or cancellations are necessary, the inclement weather hotline (919-682-0516 ext. 2) will be updated one hour prior to the start of the volunteer shift.
