For Release April 6, 2015

Nearly 40 Triangle executives will take a break from their boardrooms to spend Tuesday, April 14, building homes in partnership with qualified families during the fourth annual Habitat for Humanity CEO Build.

The event brings together chief executive officers and top business executives from Durham, Orange and Wake counties to work on a construction site and learn more about the impact of Habitat CEO Buildinitiatives on families and neighborhoods across the Triangle.

“We are proud to host the CEO Build for the first time in Durham, and excited to introduce Triangle executives to Angier Avenue in Northeast Central Durham. A strong revitalization effort in this neighborhood over the past year has resulted in positive change and amazing community building,” said Blake Strayhorn, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Durham. “This will be a great day for a distinguished group of business leaders to give back to our community.”

The 2015 CEO Build will allow three families in Durham, Orange and Wake counties the opportunity to purchase a home at a zero percent interest rate. Participating executives or their companies provide the funding for construction materials for the homes.

Over the next few months, volunteers from the participating companies will pick up where their CEOs left off. They will finish building one home in each of the three counties. Volunteers work alongside Habitat partner families who are purchasing the homes. In lieu of a down payment, each partner homebuyer contributes at least 250 sweat equity hours helping volunteers and Habitat staff build their future homes.

For the second consecutive year, Bank of America is the CEO Build’s lead sponsor.

“Bank of America recognizes the value of our local business community partnering with Habitat for Humanity affiliates to help provide affordable housing to hard-working families in our region,” said Kari Stoltz, Triangle Market President for Bank of America. “I have seen first-hand how the CEO Build increases awareness about our community’s needs among these executives.”
