Deconstruction Volunteers Needed

Posted |

We have an incredible deconstruction opportunity starting this weekend in Chapel Hill.

Saturday, Feb. 22, we'll begin with stripping out cabinets, doors and hardwood flooring.  If you're interested in volunteering for this project, please sign up at Volunteer Connect.

The Durham Habitat Deconstruction Program is a fully-insured service for salvaging building materials from residential and commercial buildings.  Our fast, friendly and affordable service saves materials from the landfill and provides clients with a donation receipt for a tax deduction.  Donated materials are sold in our ReStore to raise funds for building Habitat homes in Durham and Orange Counties.

Habitat Success Stories

Lal is a Burmese refugee who came to Durham after stops in India and Thailand. Lal partnered with Habitat and the Durham Literacy Center to renovate a historic home in East Durham. “There is no more fear,” Lal said. “We won’t have to move again because the home belongs to us.”
