Specialty Builds

Habitat for Humanity of Durham has a variety of specialty builds that engage our neighbors in funding and building homes together.  Our specialty builds are listed here. We are also open to new specialty build ideas.

Pink Ribbon Build

The Pink Ribbon Build is a special project intended to allow breast cancer survivors and the families and friends of those who have dealt with this disease the opportunity to express their gratitude to the support staff of the Duke Cancer Institute for the consistent compassion, kindness, and warmth that they give every day to patients battling cancer. Women Build

Women BuildWomen Build is an international Habitat effort to build homes that are funded and constructed by women.  By providing a female friendly work site, our Women Build program empowers women to take leadership roles in construction and learn new skills while building a home with a hardworking family. Apostles Build

Apostles BuildApostles Build mobilizes the faith community to build homes as an expression of God’s love.  Twelve or more faith communities come together to raise sponsorship funds for a home and to volunteer in the construction of that home. CEO Build

CEO BuildTop executives from the Triangle partner annually with Habitat for Humanity to help make the dream of home ownership a reality for deserving families in Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Wake counties.  In addition to providing a unique networking opportunity for area CEOs, the CEO Build project provides high corporate visibility and concrete opportunities for area companies to involve their employees in giving back to local communities. 

 

Youth United Build

Youth BuildYouth United is a youth-led program that mobilizes neighbors aged 5-25 in Habitat for Humanity’s mission of eliminating poverty housing.  Youth United volunteers advocate for affordable housing, raise money, and help build a Habitat home in our community. “Pay It Forward” Build

Habitat Success Stories

Lucy has led construction volunteers in more than five Women Builds. A civil engineer, Lucy has volunteered to teach hundreds of neighbors who have no construction experience how to build beautiful homes, and she can teach you as well.
