If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you shouldn't miss Durham Habitat's Alternative Giving Open House on December 5th from 10am to 4pm!

Local artists have contributed crafts of all kinds – jewelry, furniture, pottery, art, food, photography, and more! You’ll take home unique holiday gifts in exchange for charitable donations to benefit Durham Habitat’s affordable housing work.

This is also a great opportunity for you to tour the beautiful rehabbed home that is serving as our holiday shop. You'll see first-hand the good work that Durham Habitat donors and volunteers make possible and get to learn about our homeownership programs.

You and your loved ones get the benefit of unique, meaningful holiday gifts. Local artists get the benefit of sharing their talent with you. Durham Habitat gets the benefit of funding to build safe, decent affordable homes in Durham. Durham Habitat partner families get the benefit of wealth building, stability through homeownership.

Habitat Success Stories

Lal is a Burmese refugee who came to Durham after stops in India and Thailand. Lal partnered with Habitat and the Durham Literacy Center to renovate a historic home in East Durham. “There is no more fear,” Lal said. “We won’t have to move again because the home belongs to us.”
